THE AWARDS

Individual

These awards focus on individuals who work at ILTA member law firms or law departments, or at business partners, and who demonstrate exceptional accomplishments and leadership within their organizations.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is intended to recognize a career exemplifying the most impactful achievements and the highest standards of personal conduct. The recipient of this award should have achieved a record of contributions to the legal sector that far exceeds expectations and provides a model and inspiration for participation and involvement by others. Such a record will be demonstrated over an extended period of time in a number of different positions or capacities. The Lifetime Achievement Award is a record of achievement that demonstrates an individual’s capacity for vision, innovation, collaboration,and motivation of others.

The Lifetime Achievement award REQUIRES a nomination; self-nominations for these awards will not be accepted

CRITERIA:

  • Outstanding accomplishments in legal tech over an extended period (20 + years)
  • A career dedicated to fairness and equality
  • A model for others
  • Evidence of volunteerism and giving back
  • Recognition as a standard-setter in the community

The Innovative Leader of the Year Award is intended to recognize an outstanding achievement by an individual maximizing the value of an innovative technology in support of legal professionals.

CRITERIA:

  • Innovative and creative approaches that contribute to the legal profession
  • Outstanding achievement maximizing the value of innovative technology
  • Proactively planning and successfully implementing an innovative idea
  • Open-minded and motivated leader

The Innovative Leader of the Year Award is intended to recognize an outstanding achievement by an individual maximizing the value of an innovative technology in support of legal professionals.

CRITERIA:

  • Innovative and creative approaches that contribute to the legal profession
  • Outstanding achievement maximizing the value of innovative technology
  • Proactively planning and successfully implementing an innovative idea
  • Open-minded and motivated leader

Annual award for the year, noting the best Blog in the ILTA collection

CRITERIA:

  • A blog post, of any length, must have been published during 2023 - 2024.
  • Audience reach, timeliness of topic(s), relevance to ILTA Core values, and impact on readership

Annual award for the year, noting the best Partner-written article in ILTA Publications

CRITERIA:

  • Articles must be published within the year 2023 - 2024
  • Publication is considered for articles in Peer to Peer and White Papers
  • Audience reach, timeliness of topic(s), relevance to ILTA Core values, and impact on readership

Annual award for the year, noting the best Member-written article in ILTA Publications

CRITERIA:

  • Article must be published within the year 2023 - 2024
  • Publication is considered for articles in Peer to Peer and White Papers
  • Audience reach, timeliness of topic(s), relevance to ILTA Core values, and impact on readership

Organization

These awards focus on Member entities and recognize team excellence at ILTA at member law firms and law departments.

The Transformative Project of the Year Award is intended to recognize a member law firm of any size for their achievement in planning and successfully implementing a transformative project.

CRITERIA:

  • A project that brings about systematic change
  • A record of the planning and successful implementation of the project
  • A model for re-engineering in the legal industry

Business Partner

These awards focus on business partners and recognize superior achievements in innovation by ILTA business partners and consultants.

The Solution Provider of the Year Award is intended to recognize an individual Business Partner or a Business Partner company for outstanding achievements and exceptional advancement of a software or technology solution.

CRITERIA:

  • Has developed a software or technology solution with applicability in the legal tech space
  • Demonstrates successful adoption of the solution within law firms/legal departments
  • Culture of continued innovation and adaptation to needs of clients
  • Great customer service

Collaboration

This award is intended for a collaborative effort between an ILTA Member entity and an ILTA Business Partner or Consultant focused on a ground-breaking new technology.

The Trailblazer Award is designed to recognize a collaborative initiative between a member entity and a business partner entity. This collaboration will take the form of an early deployment of a new product and/or service.

The Trailblazer award is application only; third-party nominations are not accepted.

CRITERIA:

  • Managing risk in being an early adopter
  • Effective collaboration between customer and business partner
  • Proactively planning and successfully implementing an early adoption program
  • "Quick win" - achieving project goals quickly
  • Mapping out the next phase

Recognition List

The recognition list is intended to recognize our Young Professionals (under 40 years old) in all segments of the ILTA community who inspire others, have demonstrated exceptional accomplishments to date and, critically, show great promise for the future.

The Young Professionals to Watch Award is intended to recognize rising young professionals (under 40) in the legal technology industry, including members, ILTA staff, press, partners, and academics. The application questions are intended to demonstrate the candidate’s achievements, professionalism, and leadership in the legal technology space. Moreover, it recognizes how the individual extended their skills to the legal community and reflected ILTA’s core values.

The deadline to apply for yourself is 8 March 2024 or nominate a peer by 1 March 2024. Further extensions will not be granted.

Large firm, small firm, corporate, government, business partner - the chance for recognition by winning an ILTA Peer award acknowledges extraordinary achievement in the legal technology industry. Self-nominations are encouraged, or you can nominate someone else. You can’t win if you don’t apply.

Self-nominations are encouraged, or you can nominate someone else. Take a moment to browse through the categories now and think about who you know that deserves to be recognized. Note that self-nominations are NOT accepted for the Lifetime Achievement Awards. Those awards are third-party nominations only, and the nominee must accept the nomination and apply. Likewise, the Trailblazer Award is application only, no third-party nominations are accepted.

Those who won an award in the last cycle (2022) are not eligible to be nominated/apply for the same award category in 2024. However, 2022 winners are free to be nominated and/or apply for other categories.

Once nominations are submitted, you will be asked to complete an application, or if you are self-nominating you can go directly to the application site to complete your application.

The applications are reviewed by the award judges and a group of finalists are selected. If the awards are close, the finalist will be interviewed by the judges and an award winner will be selected.
